Services

Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:

Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services:  Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.

Lakeland Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Johnson is performing routine surgery with Teresa monitoring anesthesia.  Surgical Services:  LVH provides routine and specialty surgical services for your pet's needs.  We maintain the highest standards of equipment and technique to minimize risks of complications.  Surgical procedures that require a specialist are done at LVH by one of the board certified surgeons from Veterinary Surgical Specialists.  This makes top surgeons available to you without the need for a referral to a different hospital.

Anesthesia:  We utilize the safest available anesthetics and equipment to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients and our smaller dogs and cats.  Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.  We routinely monitor their blood pressure, EKG, heartrate, temperature, respiratory rate, O2 (pulse oximetry) and CO2 levels.  Dr. Drury, who has exceptional expertise in anesthesia, supervises all anesthetic protocols at Lakeland Veterinary Hospital.

Ultrasound and Echocardiography: Lakeland Veterinary Hospital has had on-sight Ultrasound and Echocardiographic capability since 2000.  Dr. Johnson has developed expertise through advanced training and years of clinical experience to serve your pet's needs when these tests are needed.  Our ability to perform these tests in our hospital avoids unnecessary inconvenience and delay.

Echocardiography helps to determine the function of the heart and needed treatment. State of the art ultrasound used to detect unseen conditions.

Radiology Services:  X-rays can be used to evaluate orthopedic, cardiovascular and gastrointestinal disease.  Our commitment to safety and high quality diagnostics assures safe and effective evaluations of your pet's symptoms.

At Lakeland Veterinary Hospital dental x-rays can help determine the condition or our patient's teeth.Dentistry:  Since 1983, Lakeland Veterinary Hospital has been dedicated to the best dental care possible for your pet.  No other area of veterinary medicine has progressed as much as veterinary dentistry over the last three decades.  We have maintained a commitment to stay on the forefront of these changes with both equipment and procedures.  We offer routine, periodontal, surgical and endodontic care, and can give pet owners the guidance they need for good home dental care.

We have an extensive pharmacy which allows us to fill your pet's prescription promptly and conveniently.  For medications which need to be reformulated or are unavailable in the commercial market, we use Compounding Pharmacies to customize prescriptions necessary for successful therapy.

Dietary Counseling:  We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, proper weight maintenance and performance.

Behavioral Therapy:  Inappropriate pet behavior can lead to property damage or injury to family members and other pets.  House soiling, Litter Box problems, destructive behavior, and aggression are common problems and should be addressed as early as possible for the greatest success in treatment.  Some behaviors are a result of inapparent medical problems, while others are strictly behavior based.  We always recommend screening for the medical causes prior to initiating behavioral therapy.

Permanent identification:
We offer microchip identification by Home Again, a virtually painless procedure that can be done during an outpatient appointment.

Boarding:
We provide pet boarding as a service to our clients.  All boarders receive personal attention from our caring staff.  Pets may be dropped off and picked up during regular business hours Monday through Saturday.  While they stay with us, dogs are walked along a wooded path three times each day.

Bathing:  Routine and therapeutic bathing services are available.
